Pokémon Go Adventure Week Collection Challenges, research tasks and bonuses

Exciting Adventure Week in Pokémon Go: Dive into Fossil Pokémon!

Adventure Week is an anticipated event in Pokémon Go, and this year, it focuses on Fossil Pokémon, along with a variety of Rock and Ground-type creatures. Players can participate in several Adventure Week Collection Challenges throughout the event, with guidelines provided below to help discover the Pokémon included. Additionally, players have the chance to complete event-exclusive research tasks that come with some exciting bonuses.

Another highlight of this event is Adventure Week: Taken Over, where Team Rocket makes a comeback, attempting to dominate the Pokémon Go landscape once again. Similar to previous events of this nature, it will introduce a new Special Research quest titled Adventure Week: Taken Over and alter the lineups of Team Rocket Leaders.

Collection Challenges During Adventure Week

During Adventure Week, Ancient Discoveries is one of the Collection Challenges available until Monday, August 12, at 11:59 PM (local time). To reap all the rewards, challenges must be completed by this deadline. It should be noted that two of the Pokémon included in this challenge can only be obtained through evolution. So, obtaining them via trade will not count toward completion. When catching their pre-evolved forms, utilizing Pinap Berries will be beneficial for acquiring enough Candy.

Here’s a list of Pokémon involved in the Ancient Discoveries Collection Challenge and the methods to find them:

  • Kabuto: Available in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Make 3 Great Throws’ and ‘Make 5 Great Curveball Throws’).
  • Kabutops: Evolve Kabuto using 50 Kabuto Candy.
  • Aerodactyl: Available in the wild or through a seasonal research task (‘Win 5 Raids’).
  • Omanyte: Available in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Make 3 Great Throws’ and ‘Make 5 Great Curveball Throws’).
  • Omastar: Evolve Omanyte using 50 Omanyte Candy.

Completing this challenge rewards players with 2500 Stardust, 25 Mega Aerodactyl Energy, and an encounter with Anorith.

The Dig It Collection Challenge

The Dig It Collection Challenge also runs during Adventure Week until Monday, August 12, at 11:59 PM (local time). Just like the Ancient Discoveries challenge, players must complete this one as well within the specified timeframe to claim their rewards. Similar to the preceding challenge, two Pokémon in this challenge can only be acquired through evolution, and catching their pre-evolutions with Pinap Berries will be advisable.

The Pokémon in the Dig It Collection Challenge and their finding methods are as follows:

  • Drilbur: Found in the wild or through an event-exclusive research task (‘Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms’).
  • Excadrill: Evolve Drilbur using 50 Drilbur Candy.
  • Dunsparce: Found in the wild or through an event-exclusive research task (‘Catch 10 Rock-type Pokémon’).
  • Diglett: Found in the wild or through seasonal research tasks (‘Catch 7 different species of Pokémon’ or ‘Make 5 Nice Throws’).
  • Dugtrio: Evolve Diglett using 50 Diglett Candy.

Completing the Dig It challenge grants the same rewards: 2500 Stardust, 25 Mega Aerodactyl Energy, and an encounter with Lileep.

Adventure Week Field Research Tasks

Throughout Adventure Week, players can earn unique research tasks by spinning PokéStops. Although these tasks can be saved for completion after the event, finishing a few during the Adventure Week can provide helpful encounters for collecting the above Pokémon.

Here’s a list of the field research tasks during Adventure Week:

  • Catch 10 Rock-type Pokémon: Rewards you with a Dunsparce or Roggenrola encounter.
  • Evolve a Pokémon: Can reward a Lileep, Anorith encounter, or 10 Mega Aerodactyl Energy.
  • Explore 2km: Rewards with either Cranidos, Tyrunt, or Archen encounters.
  • Hatch an Egg: Grants a Shieldon, Tirtouga, or Amaura encounter.
  • Spin 10 PokéStops or Gyms: Rewards with a Drilbur or Bunnelby encounter.
